I just ordered 20 Athlon K7-500 CPU's and when I got them today I was looking them over and something caught my eye on one of them.. 19 of them are labeled as "AMD ATHLON PROCESSOR" on the top and the sticker on the side.. The one that stuck out at me says "AMD 7th GENERATION PROCESSOR" on the top and the sticker on the side.. I am just wondering if there is anything special with this cpu.. I have a K7 board that I may try it in but I was just wondering if anyone else had ever got one of these or seen them.. and like said.. if they were anything special..

I dont think there is anythign special, i have seen both types of labeling on them, different was between oem and retail boxed from what I saw with my experiance with them. they are all 7th generation, hence the K7. Not sure if you are aware of it or not, but alot of the 500s and 550s are lowered down 650mhz ones. (assuming you are talking slot A). of course a gold finger device for them, from what I have seen, still goes for $35+. but if you are good at electronic soldering, they can be redone to the correct faster speeds.

SoulKeeper: That would be a nice thought :) although I just plan on selling them on eBay.. it keeps me with a little extra cash on hand :) I have around $5 in each chip

dguy: right.. who said anything about k6's :)

SK: they are all 500s.. and I only bought 20.. my father has about 50.. and our distributor still has 110 left.. im gonna sell em on ebay for $15 shipped.. but I'll sell you one direct right now for $12.00 shipped priority.. which leaves me with about $3.. heh

$12 shipped is a good price for them. I would go ahead and post on the for sale/trade thread first, even the $15 price shipped. I know some people (like me) would much rather buy here than off ebay, never know who else is looking for one.
