AMD Athlon "Classic" Heatsink and Fan question

Ok I have a Athlon 800mhz Slot A in my main system. It is not overclocked.
I have a global win hs/fan already on it but the problem is it blocks my 3rd dimm slot on my K7V. I was planning on getting more ram since its so cheap now and I was wondering what is a good hs/fan to get for a non overclocked 800mhz Slot A athlon that will not block any ram slots.
Are the Slot A orbs any good? any suggestions?

Is it the heatsink or the fan that blocks the dimm slot. If its possible, consider just replacing the fan with a 10mm thin profile delta looks like this

its the fans.
the fans are also loud, another reason Im thinking of replacing it.
the heatsink and fan does keep my CPU cool though, but it blocks a ram slot . I dont have a temp sensor to check though.

What hsf is it, I've run a athlon 800 at 1.95 volts with just a 24cfm 80mm fan.

Im not real sure, it came from a local computer shop. They sent the wrong fan and the shop let me have it for the same price.
Its a huge silver heatsink with 2 Global Win fans mounted on top of it.
Its big enough that it comes right at the 3rd dimm slot.

from the pics on 2cooltek.com it almost looks like the GlobalWin VOS32. I'm not sure if it is as wide as the 32 it maybe though. and it is as tall as the VOS32.

If your heatsink if anywhere near the size of the vos32, then you'll be ok with just one fan. Just measure to see if this fan will allow you to use all the dimm slots

those fans would be perfect.
so you would just change the fans rather than the whole unit?

well you can get much better than a vos, alpha is an option but thats even bigger

right. like I said before I dont have anyway to check the temp on my athlon.
it is a slot a and I dont have it overclocked.
I was looking for something that would keep my CPU cool, etc... and free up a dimm slot.

your sink is almost the size of a brick one fan should be just fine.
This is my heatsink, far less surface area and it works just fine with a panaflo

thanks for all of the suggestions. I will take some measurements and find out what fan will fit. It looks like the one you mentioned above will work though.

I was just wondering what do you think of the Golden Orbs? I was planning on getting one for my Celeron 2 setup thats why I was wondering if the Slot A one would work good for my Athlon

Bit of a high pitched whine and some revisions are known to crack the cores. Its a cheap option but avoid if you're willing to spend.

the golden orb will chip the core on the Slot A Athlon? or the Celeron 2?
