AMD ATHLON AND MECHWARRIOR 4 on XP

I'm running win xp with a 1ghz classic athlon, 384mb ram, ATI radeon 64 VIVO.
Whenever I run MW4, it quits and drops down to desktop after about 4 or 5 minutes of game play. I heard there are problems with the AMD athlon running this game. I've obtained the latest AGP and EIDE drivers for the athlon. Anyone have any other suggestions as to what I should do next.

2 things that spring to mind...Have you updated your video card and sound card drivers?

Also, I'm assuming you've updated to the MW4 v2.0 Point Release as well. MW4 is one of my favorite games. Never had any problem what so ever running with any of my AMD's or WinXP.

Duron 850mhz
1.1ghz T-Bird 200mhz (no longer have)
1.4ghz T-Bird 266mhz (no longer have)
Athlon 2000XP

Would this problem also relate to the expansion pack for Mech Warrior 4? I have the esxpansion, with win2k, and everytime i install and run it, I get an illegal error and it closes without starting.... thanks for any help you can provide

It works fine on my system (oc'd xp)
