AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800

Well I'm thinking of building a new PC. I was wondering, is this the fastest AMD out there? I don't know AMD that well because I was always an Intel newb. I'm swtiching over because AMD > Intel.

what do you do ? The 4800 is fastest at many, the FX-57 is faster at others.

If you wanna save some cash [doubt it], you can get a 4000+ San Diego. It'll safely overclock way past FX-57 levels.

The FX57 is faster for gaming today. 6-12 months from now when the first games that support multithreading start hitting the shelves the X2 will likely outperform it noticably. The 4800+ is allready roughly equal to the FX55 even when just playing singlethreaded games. Oh and, if you tend to have other applications in the background while your playing the X2 is arguably a better choice as well.
