Woah...never seen this before. Looks pretty good. Except that I like to the watts to be a bit lower so that it leaves more room for overclocking.

If they released a 45nm version that overclocks to ~3.7-4.0ghz they would clean up for that price.

Yeah I am thinking about getting one of these for a HTPC.
To bad they are 65nm and not 45nm like amd had previously claimed..
Still it looks like its up to par to play HD-DVD's and Blu-Ray's so I am still on the fence.
Its either this or the 65w x4 9350e what do you guys think??

Yea, it seems to overclock decently to around 3.3 or so in most reviews. I would be willing to bet Anand users could get higher than that though.

Nice little CPU for that price

I just can't seem to get excited about a 95W dual core running at 2.7Ghz.

Cut the power in half then I'll show some interest.

I was considering upgrading to this from my current 5600+ @ 3.1GHz, but I'm struggling to justify upgrading to a lower clocked X2 that somehow consumes more power, despite being fabbed on a smaller process. With Phenom II just around the corner, I think I'll abstain.

$80 is kind of expensive though. you can get a phenom 9500 or a 9550 for barely more than that on ebay.

True, but the cheapest used 9550 I'm currently seeing on Ebay is $80 + $10 shipping, plus you need to buy an HSF for it, and it also has a locked multi. The 7750 is new, comes with HSF, has unlocked multi, and has over 20% higher clockspeed, which is more useful in some situations than 4 slower cores. Free shipping on the 7750, too, and I believe there's a HardOCP $5 off code available.

I don't think the black edition for 7750 has heatsink either...

Probably not a good comparison - more like an alternative to the e5200/e7200.

For a 65nm 'Kuma' first shot looks pretty good. Chipzilla probably won't break a sweat until AMD moves it to 45nm ...

:p

Hmm, I saw a review mentioning a stock HSF, so I assumed it came with one. Unless they grabbed a stock HSF from another chip.

$75 now at Newegg.

If you checked Legit Reviews, it seems that AMD is shipping these with stock HSF that comes with a two heatpipe design.

Yep, they're trying to save money/make money by selling the Phenom cores that failed validation. Same thing with the triple core'd chips, 1 core failed validation. In these X2s, two cores failed validation. Intel, AMD, Via, Nvidia, ATI, etc have been doing this for decades.

Yea, but you are pretty much an AMD hater, so I doubt anything they release will excite you. It competes very well against the Intel competition at it's price point and even against some more expensive processors. It looks like it trades blows with the E8200 which is quite a bit more expensive, so if nothing else at least it's another option worth looking at. Certainly a nice upgrade from some people who still have an AM2 board as well. Not to mention it looks to have some solid overclocking headroom.

It actually held it's own against a e8200, so it's not such a bad comparison. It does consume a fair bit more power though. It's definately cheap.
