anyone know where i might still be able to find one in a retail box at a reasonable price (around $200 USD)?
there was one on ebay that i was watching but i asked the seller a question about it and by the time i got an answer someone bought it (Buy It Now).

There is at least 3 more, 2 are listed at almost $650 and the other is still there with no bids but beginning bid is 225 and 300 buyout.

i might go for a 4400+ too if you guys can find one.

forgot to mention it must be socket 939

Why retail?

I'd much rather have a cool and quiet HSF like the Zalman 7000-alcu I've used with a couple of X2 3800+. The stock HSF in my X2 4200+ gaming PC is louder and hotter even with fan control enabled.

because i don't want to spend the money on an expensive 3rd party fan that may or may not fit in my case

plus i like the extra warranty

I prefer retail as well. I searched Pricegrabber and here is the results.

ZipZoomFly has it for $122 with free shipping.

Try an Opteron 175 or 185 since you can't find any X2's around. THey both overclock very nicely and they are dual core.
