I'm building a system around the ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe and debating whether the 4400s larger cache and other differences are worth the $100 over the 4200?

The question is will the performance difference be noticeable?

I do a lot of raw and tif image file processing with mainly Photoshop and Capture One so the difference doesn't need to be large to be worth while. I'm also installing 2GB to avoid any memory bottlenecks.

Any insights from those in the know would be appreciated.

i recently went through the same thing and chose the 4200. all the benchmarks i read and posts i read lead me to choose the 4200 as most say that the extra cache is not worth the extra cash. most benchmarks i looked at were real close performance wise.

Thanks!

I must not be good at finding reviews, can you point me to the one that helped you the most?

Holy Toledo!

There's almost no difference. I'm not that familar with the apps used in the benchmarks. Would the 3D Studio rendering and Pinnacle Studio 9 be the closest to Photoshop?

Thanks for the links, I had my dunce cap on today! Should have thought of the TH charts.

I found a photoshop benchmark once that showed zero improvement with the added cache, just don't ask me where it is, lost it :(

Just get the 3800+ and overclock, save a bit of money, almost all 3800+ x2 can hit 2.4ghz.
