Hard-OCP has announced that a source told them AMD is going to adjust their pricing upwards several dollars on their desktop line of Athlon64 processors.
I don't think I'm the only one who feels this is a bad move for AMD. I've been putting off building an s939 systems because the processor prices seem to have remained stagnant since last August on the budget end, and AMD's price cuts on anything else (ie a64 4000+) was caused purely by packing the high-end with the new X2's and Opterons.
I've been a staunch AMD enthusiast since my first computer (486dx clone in 1993), but Intel is finally getting more competitive -- in both price and performance.
It'll be very interesting to see how the next few quarters go in the processor market. With Intel's apparent success with Conroe and AMD's problematic outlook for socket M2, you never know what might come next -- especially since AMD is finally taking on a solid chunk of the market.
