Hey,

I was just wondering what people thought about these two products, I want to build a gaming machine and these two are both in my price range.

Thanks

If you are willing to spend that much on the CPU, I would definatly go with the X2. I have my 4200+ X2 @2.618ghz and it's blazing fast, although I do more than gaming with it, but then again, now I can run a game, with something else running in the background without any slowdowns..future games will likely be more optimized for dual cores, and Nvidia's newest drivers also take advantage of the second core.

The 4600+ is a waste of money. Get a new Opteron 165 (~$300) and OC it. =)

stuff the optertron , get an amd dual especially if you game online ! my 4400+ @ 2.2 each core pwns my fx55 in online games, the fx55 is better ofline in singleplayer mode , ie half life and the like, but for online the dual is smoother no backround task lag ever .

You must be unaware the Opteron 165 is dual core.
