Just run CPU-Z. It will tell you what core it is. Otherwise you have to remove the heatsink to see them.

no, no, i mean when i`m buying a new processor, i see its serial numbers, and last two should show what core it is. i`m looking for a list of that two letters for cores like winchester, venice (939), and newcastle, clawhammer (754)...?

What you are looking for is the OPN number or the retailer number to identify the specific core before you buy, eg the 3500+ had like three or four different cores under the same name.

check this link, it pretty self explanatory

http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop/

Just specify which processor type and model, and it will list the OPN numbers for the different cores, and this OPN number is what retailers and e-tailers put on their websites to identify the individual processor core.

EDIT: if you make a selection in the different filters, and just leave the stepping filter and the ones below blank, this will list all of the different cores on that specific AMD branded processor.

The stepping is derived from the revision, so unless you know the stepping leave this field and look at the results of the query
