AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego OR (Duel Core)

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and I have two choices on my mind the AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego or any of the duel core models like the 3800+ or the 4400+???

(I don?t really multitask my Pc that often)

if you're willing to spend that much on a single core, there is no reason not to get the dual core. get the 3800 if you are going to overclock and get the 4400 if not

wouldn't dueling cores negate each other?
if you don't really multitask, get the single core and OC. upgrade to dual core later when/if it will give you real performance gains.

It would be more cost effective to get the dual core now then to shell out for a single core and then get dual core later. I bet it will be hard to get rid of the single core for how much you got it for by the time games use multi-threading. Get a DC, overclock, have crap running in the background while you game.

I agree. If you are overclocking I would pick up an Opteron 165. If not, get an X2 3800+ or 4200+.
