I found a good price on the AMD Athlon 64 3500+ cpu on Tigerdirect.com. Does anyone know if this is the Winchester core by reading the specs? Thanks in advance.

^^uh ok

Anyway I wouldn't trust it, pay 10 more bucks and get it from Monarch or Newegg, or someone that at least tells you what it is.

Why do people still buy from that place? They have ripped so many people off. It is people like you I guess that doesn't know anything about them is why they are still in business. If you look in the hot deals forum whenever someone posts a so-called hot deal that involves Tiger Direct, about every reply says do not buy anything from that place. They have bad customer service and service period. Alot of people have had problems before.

Actually I am very careful before I purchase from an online retailer for the first time. That is why I am posting this question. I have never ordered from them before. I know the product description is kinda shady. I will definitely not purchase until I have the full story.

Wow JBDan you damn geek you goin out there and memorizing damn serial numbers...🙂

j/k, yeah I know there's a lot of hidden info in the serial numbers, including core, date it was made, clock, product number, etc etc.

And aren't we all geeks inside? Damn AT does this to us 😛

Wow...and I was just about to order a Leadtek 6600GT from them today...but decided to go with ncix.com for the sole reason that I could pay directly from my account.

He is talking about the manufacturers part number in the retail version it has a BI added and in the OEM version I think it has a DIK.

LOLOL merry X-mas Mrvile yes I am a pc GEEK lol This BI # comes from an email sent to me by AMD tech support when I wondered if I got the Winny core. And yes AT does this to me lol! 😉

Geeze. I've had pretty good luck with Tigerdirect. My only two complaints about them is that:

1) Their rebates take 3-4 months, not 6-8 weeks like advertised, and

2) Their shipping charges are outrageous.

If you factor that in, AND you know what you are looking for and looking at, then you can get a good deal every now and then. I do agree that in general Newegg and even Buy.com blows them away most of the time.
