Good enough for CS:S with a nice video card. Overkill for WC3. I do not know about the two last titles.

Other factors include system memory and video card. For BF2 and that CPU you will need 2gb of ram to play at a decent frame rate.

Obviously, the answer is very dependent on the rest of your system-- i.e. what video card you have, what resolution you play at, etc. For example, here is BF2 with chips ranging from an FX57 to a Celeron D. At a mid-range resolution, there is virtually no difference between an FX57 and a Sempron 3400+ in BF2. The difference would be even less at higher resolutions, and likely more pronounced at lower resolutions. The graphics card is a 7800GT.

Here is FEAR. It's even more GPU dependent. As you can see, they even dropped the resolution down lower to 1024x768 and show that an FX57 performs the same as a low-end Celeron D. (Another FEAR example)

My son plays WC3 on a 1.2ghz Celeron Tualatin with a ti4200 and it runs fine, so that game shouldn't be a worry. CS:S is a little more dependent on CPU than the other titles, but, again, it will depend greatly on your screen resolution and graphical settings. Here is a different site with HL2 results across different CPUs. As you can see, it is more varied than the other games, depending on resolutions.

The 3000/3200+ will be a fine gaming CPU. Focus your budget on a nice display, 2 GB of RAM, and a great video card for the best gaming experience.

I have an 3000+ venice & 1 gig of ram & 7800gt and I play new games fine. 2 gigs is defintely reccomended since its so cheap. I don't have mine overclocked but you should at least try it! BTW, get the 3200 not the 3000, the couple of bucks u save isnt' worth it.

These cpus are both sufficient for playing any current games. It is more dependent on the graphics card and ram. If you have 1Gig or more ram, it should be fine for most games (BF2 seems to work better with more ram but 1Gig is not too bad on my machine). I am still running an older AXP system and mine works well (and is not as powerful as either of those A64 cpus), so either A64 cpu is fine. As long as you have a fairly new graphics card and 1Gig or more ram, you should be fine with any A64 cpu for your games.

That should be fine for now. You can run alot of things at decent settings (AA/AF, decent resolution of 1280x1024) but you may have to knock it back a bit for other games. My friend has basically the same hardware as you (A64 3000+, x800xl, 1Gig ram) and he plays everything at fairly good settings without much lag.

You will need to think about getting a newer vid card but it should be fine for now.

I just upgraded to a 3200+ during Christmas, and am running it stock. With 1gig of Ram and a 9600 Pro Advantage things ran pretty good at about medium settings. Fear looked ok, Oblivion like *ss. Anyways, 7600gt can run Oblivion pretty well at medium-high (1024x768, most settings half or full and high) so the 3200+ is definately still good enough for CS and BF2. Just don't expect miracles with high settings.
