Ha, you thought this was a lousy deal when you read the title, made you have to read the rest too.

Just came in the mail today, a PCClub advertisement with coupons. One states AMD Athlon 1GHz Processor $189.99 (Reg. #229.99) - 266MHz FSB - Tomorrow Technology Today - Supports PC2100 DDR Technology #1906261
Limit one per customer with coupon. Good from 2/10 - 03/09/01 DMO5

Isn't this the Tbird "C"? If so, the only place that lists it online has it for $280. Maybe a typo, but seems too specific to be...

Someone let me know...

Got excited for a second there - until I went to their website and did a search for the item number you listed. It comes up as 200 FSB. Their site doesn't list the 266 FSB version, so it's probably a typo on the flyer you received. Sorry dude.

Ya, I thought so...
266 v. 200 I can see, but can the 200MHz CPU be used with PC2100 DDR RAM? I didn't think so, so they may have to honor this price on that statement.

I have bought a lot of stuff from PC Club but they do not do mail order. I even went into the store and offered my credit card so I could order over the phone and pick it up in a couple of months but they would not do that so any bargins there must be bought at the store.

The Athlon C (266) is the same chip with a lower multiplier. They should cost the same. You can just unlock a regular 1 GHz Athlon right now. How easily you all get exited.

5 X 200 = 1000
4.5 X 266 = 1000

This is not such a good deal. Fry's had the 1Ghz and the Abit KT7-RAID for $299 2 weeks ago. My buddy bought this combo and now he's running it with my help, of course, at 1300Mhz with 1.75V. The temp is idle at an average of 35C and 50C with Unreal Tournament.
About the 200 vs. 266FSB, the 200 ones, the internal clock multiplier won't go below 8, I think. This chip won't boot with 8 but it will boot at 10 or above. So there is a difference. The FSB is not much of a difference if you can get a 1300Mhz chip for this price.
