AMD announces that they will make an announcement in august

The third comment on the article says it: AMD did not "announce that they will announce details of Bulldozer". They merely published the schedule for the Hot Chips conference, which has a session named "AMD's “Bulldozer” Core – Multi-Threaded Compute Performance for Maximum Efficiency and Throughput (AMD)"

SemiAccurate also ran an article on this and didn't make it sound to dramatic.

We all know Nvidia has a patent pending on announcing the fact that they're going to make an announcement. AMD is clearly infringing on Nvidia's IP by doing this!

Cant wait!

Hopefully it is better than their recent announcement that their 6 core cant beat out a mid-range 4-core with HT from the competition.

Did you forget how Phenom turned out?

Sigh true that.

I remember the "B3 samples, dancing in the aisle". Or the open demonstration (but only camera shots, no screen caps). Or the Xfire setup that looked like a green mustache - lmao.

Agreed. When it comes to AMD's product announcement I take it that the less we hear the better prior to actual launch.

There are some details that are already known.

-Ability to "burst" issue rate within specified means
-Macro Ops Fusion

We aren't gonna see benchmarks or frequencies, but rather an architectural overview.

Yeah, they subestimated themselves, the chip turned to be more competitive in heavily threaded scenarios and weak in light threaded and single threaded applications.

That's what I was getting at. Other than a showing here or there to demonstrate that Phenom wasn't 'broken' (which was somewhat ironic considering that it was actually broken... TLB bug) they were really quiet leading up to the Phenom launch. Here it sounds like they do plan on discussing Bulldozer more prior to launch. I guess we'll see how much noise they make in the upcoming months, and of course how the hardare ends up performing.
