The problem doesn't appear to be not selling cpu's in quanity. The problem appears to be selling the cpu's at such a low price. Especially compared to 1-2 years ago. AMD appears to be selling just fine in the OEM market, which is obviously where the real money is. The market for us is small and means very little.

Some people seam to think a new cpu can be popped out of a microwave and that AMD didn't start their new arch until Intel released Core. You can also be pretty sure that AMD was Not caught off guard with Intels core arch. Intel has had the specs and roadmap up for quite a while. And AMD obviously knows what different cpu features that Intel listed can do to performance. The TRUTH is a new cpu arch and such take YEARS to design and bring to market. It took Intel 3 or more years to bring their Core arch. AMD started Barc about the same time Intel started their core project, which was about the time AMD released A64. So, it really does take alot of time and money to do a new cpu.

All of this is just my opinion 🙂

I'd rather have an affordable product that makes sense based on current manufacturing technology, instead of hoping that a 283mm2 monster will be priced below $800.

I guess if AMD had a 10 billion dollar budget to blow that would be possible for AMD. But I guess doing back-door deals and screwing other company's with partnerships is the way the microprocessor industry is leading to.

I know it's your opinion, but what about what's in bold? Got any links to back up what you said here? I'd actually like to know these dates. Why? Just for giggles.
