AMD and Intel subsections to stop the madness?

Maybe we need AMD and Intel subsections in CPUs and Overclocking, while I'm fine with comparative discussions, it may be the only way we will keep threads open in an era where AMD is struggling and the h8ers on each side are becoming more vehement. I can see why AMD fans are feeling bullied based on posts. Posts on Intel CPU products seem to be doing O.K., but we are getting posting vacations and closed threads on AMD CPU threads.

I'm sure this has been suggested before and it is a fairly common practice on other tech forums sites. I'm inclined to think this will get worse b/4 it gets better. More active moderation may just mean even more AMD threads will get closed.

FWIW...

Splitting them up makes less work for us (yay!), but it creates a general organizational problem. If you want to ask about CPU tech in general or which CPU to get, which forum do you put it in, the AMD forum or the Intel forum?

Which isn't to say that we can't do it. But I'd rather ban people for being idiots than to make it harder to engage in meaningful discussions.

That is a pickle, I admit that. 3 forums would still lead to a mess and create more work. I suspect Intel forums would handle comparison better and AMD forums would create a bit of a 'safe haven' for AMD fans. That was my hope in suggesting this. It seems to me that AMD thread cause more ire than Intel ones.

Fair enough, you and other mods are the ones who have to deal with this - thankfully, I don't D:

PS And thank you for responding to this thread

I would like to second the suggestion of splitting. I am at the point where I have moved to [H] for CPU discussion. They have separate forums. Discussions here are troll ridden, unmoderated or moderated in the wrong direction, and I've never seen as much bait be both dolled out and bitten as happens here.

It did not used to be this way and there are several members in particular who are being allowed to run amok.

Of course they will... they'll want to gloat every time their preferred brand beats the other guy in a performance benchmark.

That said, AMD hasn't had much to gloat about lately outside of game consoles.

And because of that, the AMD folks seem to get trolled more than the Intel side. So I suggested this to make it easier for the mods to shield the AMD group from, what was becoming, a routine drubbing by the Intel fans. I'm fine with whatever the mods choose to do. I just don't want the CPU & OC to turn into P&N, which is just causing some of the more knowledgeable members to stay out hence depriving us of valuable insight because of it.

I agree with separate sections for AMD, Intel and ofc Displays, but it won't change much in terms of trolling, and dude btw there are so many trolls in [H] CPU and GPU forums that it is way worse actually than here.
