AMD AM2 x2 3800+ $129 shipped from clubit.com

From Clubit description

L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB

L2 Cache: 512KB + 512KB

Is this right? All Newegg ADAxxxx part numbers say 128KB+128KB

All K8s have a 64k data and a 64k Instruction L1 cache. They are probably just referring to data cache on that site.

Nice. Just ordered one. Thanks for the heads up. I too would appreciate the recommendation on a decent cheap mb to go with this.

I would also like a recommendation on this. For instance, what type of ram can I get with it? I see DDR2 compatible boards, is the ram speed linked to the bus speed of the processor?

It's a hot deal for someone needing one now, but merely warm if you don't need one. Unless they become discontinued, these prices should become closer to the norm in about 4-6 months. If not, then the Core 2 Duo at $113 (pricing roadmap for 2nd quarter 2007) would be a better choice.

I expect prices to drop even further as the upgrade Core 2 Duo (6320 and 6420, IIRC, with larger cache) chip launch with cheaper price. Looks like a few price wars might be brewing in the near future, at least until AMD rolls out the new platform sometime this year. Good for the customers....but bad for the stock holders! 😛

Oh, and bump for the last few minutes of this sale! 😉
