most definitely.

ive been watching them since they came out (hell ive been anticipating them for like a year)...

i guess im gonna pick one up soon.. but i spend far too much money. besides, i just bought a new Gamecube hehe 🙂
fun fun

cant beat 2.3ghz for $96

I'm retarded, I paid 136 +s&h for my Barton 2500+. Did not leave me with enough to buy the damn 8RDA+, dang blast it.

What I don't understand is with the Bartons AMD always drops the GHz after increasing the cache. Is there a reason why they do that? Why not leave the GHz where it is and add the extra cache and produce a faster chip...

Whats really not so good is that they are only introducing 2 processors with a 400mhz fsb. That seems like a mistake.

Really! You'd expect them to phase out the even the 333fsb chips for 400fsb chips. And I really hate the drop in clock speed. Call the damn thing a 2300+, you lying marketing scum! You know it's not the engineers with this garbage, I expect that kinda crap from Intel, but not from AMD.

You have to remember, AMD maintains that their PR rating is in no way related to Intel P4's... it's a rating system that compares the XP processor to an older AMD Athlon. For example... they're saying the XP2500 provides the same performance as a 2.5 Ghz AMD Athlon if it existed.

and the athlon 2.5ghz would compare to its intel equivelent.. so we can then make the comparison to intel.

Not exactly... the Athlon's were comparable to P3's. The current P4's have gone through 2 major core revisions since the P3.

Come on though, you know that while the extra cache helps with some stuff, the drop in clock speed is a significant disadvantage. I expect additional functionality without giving up clock speed, anything else is pure marketing. It's like buying the "new" flavor potato chips in the same size bag and getting less chips.
