Wow, prices on these just keep tumbling! Too bad I just got a 3500+, or I'd be on this like a Pompilus formosus on a Mygale hentzii!

Oh yea forgot to mention that this is the S939 version (Venice) not the AM2 (Orleans) version. The one they sell at MWave.com is the AM2 version which is apparently cheaper. The S939 at MWave is $200. And as someone mentioned, it is SINGLE CORE!

Well I'm in for 1, could someone recommend a good AM2 motherboard and some matching ram to go with it, my first AM2 build, although I have built a slew of A64's. If it is improper of me to ask here I apologize in that case just PM me please, thanks for your patience. Jay.

AMD is in damage control mode, they will have to price drop down to conroes price structure at least, if not more aggressive to keep marketshare and sales until they get a better platform or higher clocked chips to compete.

It really looks like Conroe is going to be a huge blow to AMD.

Im hoping for a cheap X-2 Upgrade in October or so :)

These deals are getting really sweet. Time to upgrade and get rid of this cursed DFI ultra-D board.

Whats wrong with the board? Ive built more than a dozen machines around it, and they are stellar as long as you dont have Corsiar value ram, which is trash anyway.

Put a DFI board in front of me and I'll stomp on it, pound it with a hammer, then put the pieces in my blender until it's a smoothie, then take it out to sea and dump it.

That's just my opinion though, I know some people have really good experiences with them.

Thanks for the OP, I was expecting AMD CPUs to drop in price soon.

All i know is DFI isnt suffering from 90% sales slumps ;)

I have a Gig of Corsair PC4400. The stuff that can do over 350Mhz. One pair has died. Not sure if it's due to the board or not. Also lost a Hard Drive but I can't be sure if it's the board that did that either. Had a x1800xt that wouldn't work in the board but that might have been the vid card. Who knows? Either way, the board doesn't work as advertised and has a ton of problems. I have never had it stable at stock speeds and I've replaced the memory, videocard, and PSU.

I'm about to cut my losses. I'm just waiting for the next big deal and for these price cuts to settle down.

I've built a couple hundred machines using Corsair Value RAM (each one with a minimum of 1GB...most had 2GB or more). I've had no more than a handful of sticks out of roughly a half terabyte of memory go wrong. I think you're using too small of a sample size to claim Corsair Value RAM is trash. :)

Why does 'AMD Virtualization' sound like that lamest, most useless catchphrase since 'SSE' and 'Netburst'? Think I'll stick with my Opty 165 for now, no reason to move to DDR2 from what I can tell.
