I haven't see anyone got a64 3500+ Most of them I have seen got 3000 or 3200...why? I am curious. I am thinking I bought wrong or I did the right thing?

they bought those to save money and they overclock the same, ie. better value. At stockspeed the 3500+ is obviously faster.

I'm running a 3500 winnie until my opteron 175 gets here. It's been pretty good at stock speeds and I really haven't tried to oc it nor do I really want to try. I'm replacing it with an opteron for obvious reasons.

Both me and my brother are running 3500+ at stock speed. It is a nice chip if you do not care for overclocking. I reasoned that it was better shelling out a little extra cash than spending the amount of time and work it might require to get another chip to even run at this speed. As it turned out it was a good decision, since the motherboard I have selected just plain wont post at any HTT higher than 219 with the CPU core (Winnie CBBID) I got. Overclocking is by no means a certainty of success.

The 3500+ Venice has the same overclock potential as the 3000+ and 3200+. Of course that's YMMV. Also, the 3500+ has a higher multiplier which could help you reach a higher overclock in case your motherboard can't handle high HT or if your RAM is limiting you.

I bought my 3500+ Winchester last October (2004) right around the time these were hot. At the time I was ready to buy there was a shortage and the 3500+ retail was available at Newegg so I got it. Also, this was my first attempt at overclocking and I wanted something with higher stock speed in case I ran into problems overclocking.

In essence you paid more money for a higher multiplier in case your motherboard can't handle high HT. You also have security since you're gauranteed to be able to run at 2.2GHz no matter what.

Nice..i don't know if my mobo will be able to OC that much. I don't know much like HTT, Timining, etc on BIOS.

I have the Newcastle 130 die size, so the old clawhammer one. Best OC on stock 11x235=2585. 4xHTT 1:1 RAM. I guess I could drop multi and RAM to see what the FSB gets to, but dont see any need really.

I was originally gonna get a Athlon64 3000+ and 6800GT but the 6800GT went out of stock just before I ordered. So I bumped it up to a 3500+ for an extrra £30 and a 7800GT for an extra £70. It was well worth the money and will tide me over until Socket M2/AM2 and DDR2.
