That's awesome, grats to The Stilt and AMD for taking down Netburst in this segment.

Edit: Ops, I didn't see this was for Richland only (WR), 8150 (Bulldozer) still holds the frequency WR this isn't quite as fast as Cedar Mill which peaked at 8.5GHz.

Nobody said that everyone will be achieving 8.2 GHz with the cheap stock cooler.

No, but even trying to insinuate any other clocks based on a chip killing -185C @2v run is reaching at best.

Such a pity their single threaded IPC is so weak.

What do these babies get on a realistic overclock on an aircooler, that someone can have running 24/7?

Might be able to get 5.0-5.2ghz on a Noctua D14 or similar. Getting such frequencies on a lower cost CPU harnesses a ton of value for the budget overclocker.

I have a A10-5800k Desktop - I have it running at 4.4 GHz and the GPU at 11xx MHz (Forget exact) using a cheap Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo I got for $20 somewhere on sale.

I defend it all the time on these forums and it's capability to game at low resolutions with high settings - They work great for anyone wanting to game at 1366x768 with quite high details for cheap. (Good TV/HTPC Rigs)

Yep my HD4600 produces similar GPU performance overclocked and I found it capable of playing at the res you mention.

I don't feel to excited about this stuff anymore it's just strange marketing it seems, only being stable enough to run CPUz on Windows XP? and it's not about performance or anything, since some much lower clocked CPUs would be faster... so... 8GHz was more impressive on the netburst days I guess, it was slow and unstable but, it was also 8GHz :|

but it can't be easy to get the extra few MHz for these screenshots, because other people are also trying hard, so, good job.

1.56v for a quick CPU-Z run doesn't sound like a reasonable stable air OC.

This is a 2500k @ 5.4Ghz on 1.6v+

Not a real OC if you will. Just showing off something useless.

Now in fact, the A10 6800k is a pretty good value, and in the mid 4ghz range with a decent air cooler is a great budget gaming/HTPC proposition. But trying to sell it as a mid 5Ghz on air chip for actual use is ludicrously silly.

not really, you can buy basically the same for less money (5800K) and I'm sure it's possible to do low-mid 4GHz with it? and for gaming this IGP is almost always going to be a greater limiting factor than this CPU, so CPU OC is not that important... and 750K + 7750

Is this how CPUz reads all AMD cpus?

Says x53 (10-47)

CPU @ 4.8GHz with 1086MHz iGPU and 1.475v. I choose this for 24/7.

I could get the CPU at 5GHz or above with 1.5+ voltage
iGPU could get at 1185MHz or even higher.

Where do you believe your CPU is in the silicon lottery?

Since that was the only test sample i have used i really dont know, but from what i have seen from others, it seams that 5GHz on Air/W is possible if you have a good mobo.

The Stilt claims he could obtain 8.3 GHz from his chip with some tuning.

He wait to obtain 8.4 GHz with an "optimal specimen".

Therefore, we would wait a new world record soon.
