Did everyone miss that AMD will also be charging more for unlocked chips? Right down to the "K" designation.

I see, interesting:

Prefetching and branch prediction are both significantly improved with Piledriver. Bulldozer did a simple sequential prefetch, while Piledriver can prefetch variable lengths of data and across page boundaries in the L1 (mainly a server workload benefit). In Bulldozer, if prefetched data wasn't used (incorrectly prefetched) it would clog up the cache as it would come in as the most recently accessed data. However if prefetched data isn't immediately used, it's likely it will never be used. Piledriver now immediately tags unused prefetched data as least-recently-used, allowing the cache controller to quickly evict it if the prefetch was incorrect.
Another change is that Piledriver includes a perceptron branch predictor that supplements the primary branch predictor in Bulldozer. The perceptron algorithm is a history based predictor that's better suited for predicting certain branches. It works in parallel with the old predictor and simply tags branches that it is known to be good at predicting. If the old predictor and the perceptron predictor disagree on a tagged branch, the perceptron's path is taken. Improving branch prediction accuracy is a challenge, but it's necessary in highly pipelined designs. These sorts of secondary predictors are a must as there's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to branch prediction.

No, the burden is ON you. I made a decisive statement that BF3 MP is unplayable in a pentium. All you said was "at worst, it maybe..." The one who doubts has to prove it.

But because I am not like you who evades questions with semantics and keep jumping on different subjects; this is a good read, from no other place than our own good forums. Take a good read at it, and try to comprehend.

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2259681

You obviously don't pay attention to overall gaming, as this topic (BF3 MP on dual cores) has been beaten to death on internet forums. A simple google search of "pentium g850 BF3" brings the subject and shows that it CANNOT play MP. I know you will find an excuse. It is fine, write all the out of sense excuses you want as is your style, after all, you are the one looking bad.

ps. Like BF3, a few other games make good use of more cores.

Too bad in almost every other game except BF3, Pentium is owning even the FX 8150. Your point is? That we should drop all other games and play cherry picked ones?

Those Core i3s are becoming obsolete.

so lets see
i3 which can not be overclocked so you buy the cheapest mobo you can find no extra cooling and the cheapest ram
vs
the a10 with the best mobo you can find, expensive memory and money to cooling solutions
and of course not to mention that the person will actually want to go through all this trouble.

so how now a10 turns i3 obsolete when it is more expensive than the i3????
with the same money you can not take i3 you can take an i5??? and keep the same mobo and same cheap ram not overclock and then amd looses

okey athenra
i would like amd to be somehow competitive but this is rediculous
who on his right mind will build an a10 system and push it to 5ghz?!?!?!?!?
i give credit where it has to be given.
there is nothing for amd to be broud
except the bobcat area where amd decided not to refresh the line
apu is supposed to be a cheap low system

So, now Intel has become the cheap alternative ????

Im sure that you wouldnt say that If you could OC the Core i3. But because at 5GHz Trinity will come close to Core i5 territory you downplay it.

Yeap, they now have the best all around product in the $130.00 mark, faster CPU OC or not, Faster graphics, low power consumption. Nothing to give credit for :p

apu is supposed to be a cheap low system

you can still build a cheap low end AMD APU system, plenty of chipset's (A55, A75, A85) and motherboards to choose from and nice dual core APUs with much better graphics than Intel ;)

well it has become a cheap alternative how much the mobo of biostar cost??
how much did the cpu heat sink cost??? the memory???
how much does this system cost???? that makes the i3 absolete?

Im sure that you wouldnt say that If you could OC the Core i3. But because at 5GHz Trinity will come close to Core i5 territory you downplay it.
as i said above how much that system cost
if it cost the same to buy mobo and i5 why get in the trouble?????

low power consumption?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? 100 watt stock
compared to the 77 ivy how that is low power???? not mention how much it will go when overclocked.

better graphics poorer cpu
in the low end
and it is my opinion i would want a better cpu than gpu
after all the igpu is to do the basics so better cpu for me
others may wont a better igpu

You dont get it, even at default the A10 is better all around. You can do a mild OC in the CPU and be faster than Core i3 both in CPU and Graphics without spending a single Euro/Dollar more.

as i said above how much that system cost

For the fun of it, for the better integrated graphics, better platform features.

It is obvious that you dont know a lot about CPUs and APUs. 100Watt including the iGPU that is faster than HD4000 some times up to 3x.

The only advantage the Core i3 has is in Single thread performance, once you you OC the Trinity that advantage fades away. So with Trinity you have a better all around product than Core i3. Eryone should be able to see that, except people wearing blue glasses :p

How do you know? Last time I checked, AMD dictated not to post CPU benchmark, nor overclocking benchmarks. Seeing posts like this, I understand their reason to do that.

Dual core apu? You mean something like E-xxx series? Are you kidding now? Any way, when low budget gaming is considered, Pentium G620 + GT640 will beat any high-end APU, while having similar pricing.

i was just playing allong with the logic of athenra
if we are going to pay 50$ more for cpu heatsink
50$+ for mobo
20$ more for ram
why on earth you do not use those 120$+ in the first place and buy an i5 or even an i7!?!?!??!

it is not better or around
in single thread is behind as you said that
all around would mean everywhere if i am not mistaken??
an i3 is 2 cores /4 threads
a10 is 2 modules/4 threads
so more or less we can compare them directly
no one challenged that a10 has better graphics
no one challenged that liano had better graphics
gee no one challenged that even e350 had better graphics.

the question is not if a10 has better graphics but if you can actually do anything with them.
cause for video, browsing and even old game titles hd4000 is sufficient.
video and browsing even an atom will do the job
as i said apu is supposes to aim for a cheap system with no graphic card
that intel more or less covers it
amd is ahead in gpu perfomance
but i wont more cpu perfomance not gpu at the low end.
everyone who want more gpu will not be govered by an apu
not with trinity not with the next generation not even 2 generation ahead

Do we know what CPU was running with the GT640 in that graph ?? Because if it wasn't the A10-5800 the result is invalid.

i do not see them invalid
you spoke lower power and it seems that a system with
cpu and gpu uses less power than the a10
so how is that invalid???

I'm OCing my AMD Athlon II to 3.7 ghz from 2.8ghz on the stock HSF and a 35 dollar AM3+ motherboard. The ram I used was a 15.75 dollar(shipped) 4 gig stick at 1600mhz.

OCing is a skill. Some people need to spend more money on better components in order to compensate for the fact that they suck at OCing. Others can OC with stock components just fine thank you.

What utter rubbish.

The person who makes the far fetched claim has the onus on them to substantiate it.

We have all seen the Pentium kick around the FX-4100 in single player games, why would anyone in their right mind then believe your unsupported claims that the FX-4100 turns the tables in multiplayer gaming.

i buy expensive hardware but i underclock lol
my athlon xp 2600+ i set the bulk to 200 instead of 166 lower the multiplier so i had more or less the same frequency
i gained better 3d performance this way

The FX-4100 is a 3.6 ghz chip at 3.8 turbo. The A105800K is a 3.8 GHz chip with 4.2 turbo. Two different chips with different frequencies.

It is irrelevant to what you wrote. Why are you even mentioning the FX-4100 in a thread about Trinity?
If you had the reading comprehension of a junior high school student, you would know why.

But as you clearly don't, I'll have to help you out.

There was a series of posts from AlexRuiz and LOL_Wut_Axel which were specifically comparing the FX-4100 to the Pentium range, and I decided to join into their debate.

So is it clear now??? Or do you need even more help?
