For those with old Slot A athlons, this is a pretty inexspensive upgrade if you to would like to jump into the 1ghz arena (with a little over clock shot!) Although I've been tempted to fork out $150+ for a socket A motherboard and cpu upgrade, my old 550mhz slot A has been a steady performer. After $9 shipping, the totalt price was $75.

AfroSausage, make sure your slot A mobo will handle a Thunderbird processor - most of them don't.

I was thinking about upgrading my slot A, but when you can get the ECS mobo and 1 GHz Duron processor for under $100, why bother?

damn...i paid $232 for an OEM 600MHz when it first came out as the fastest processor speed.

would this be a good upgrade? (i still have my $63 worth of four 256MB PC133 MICRON RAMs from DELL sitting around)
