AMD 8000 series chipset vs. Via and Nvidia chipsets for an Opteron system

I'm going to be building a system soon and have decided on an Opteron 146 to drive the bad boy. So here's my question. How does the AMD chipset measure up to the Via and Nvidia ones? I don't care about overclocking. All I want is a nice stable MB that has all the features I need and won't be a headache.

So far the two motherboards I'm looking at seriously for this Opteron setup are the Tyan Tiger K8WS and the Asus SK8V. Opinions? I've been looking for some reviews but haven't found many about the AMD 8000 chipset.

Thanks for your feedback.

I used the AMD 8151 skt754 single CPU solution and it was faster than nV and VIA@ stock speeds when reviewed and I found it to be rock solid and stable. Ali's SATA controller was another story ;) Anywho, If I was building an Opteron with no overclocking in mind it would be with a AMD chipset, period.

The AMD chipset has three parts that can be freely combined - an AGP tunnel, a dual-bus PCI-X tunnel, and a south bridge. PCI-X bus(ses) are unavailable from all other chipset vendors. So if you're after fast storage and networking I/O, you want the AMD chipset. It's not going to be cheap though.
