AMD 7990 and ram issue.

Correct me if I am wrong but when you use crossfire with two 7970 that they only use 3gb of ram.

Isn't the 7990 just two 7970 slammed together on one pcb? If so wouldn't it just use 3gb like the two 7970s crossfired, our would it use 6gb?

The 7990 (Like the GTX 690) is two Crossfired'ed cards on a single PCB. It functions identical to two crossfired 7970's, you just have less space taken up. The RAM does not double, each card has its own buffers that it keeps in its own memory.
