Getting ready to build a system soon, and was hoping to know which of these chipsets are better? I know that the 761 is a bit more expensive, but is it worth it? I was planning on going with the EPOX EP-8K7A+ RAID AMD-761 + VIA 686B, but is there a difference among the EPOX EP-8KHA+ VIA Apollo KT266A?
Lastly.... Is it possible to run a MP prossesor on these boards?
Thanks in advance.

Clearly for for the KT266A as it's faster. Altough consider Shuttle AK31A revision 3.1. It has 4 dimms sockets, 6 PCI slots and supports Athlon XP (and I assume MP also - check the website at www.spacewalker.com), plenty of overclocking options and goes for around $85.

The KT266A board is faster than the AMD 761 but I would also look at the MSI K7T266 PRO2 as an option to the 8KHA+ since it's only 1$ more than the Epox @newegg and offers 4 USB 2.0 ports the Epox dosen't. I also see alot of posts from people raving about the K7T266 PRO2 after they get. As to the MP I believe both boards will run it but unless you already have the chip don't buy it, use an XP they cost less.

UofI:

I hope you mean KT266A, as KT266 is a lousy performer with lots of issues.
