ive heard rumors of a 6930, if so do you think it will be midrange possibly matching the performance of the current 6850?

your comment about a 6930 being on par with the 6850 is what makes no sense. why on earth would they have a cut down top end card that is no faster than a 6870 much less a 6850?

so... where do the low end cards come into play then? it kind of makes no sense that midrange cards were released first, usually its always the second top end card that comes out first.

anyone have any furthur info on what the 6930 might bring or is it basically hush hush no leaks yet

yeah, because the 5830 was faster than...uh, I mean, it was very power efficient...er, dang, hopefully they just won't make a 6930.

the 5830 was crap but it was still faster than 5750 or 5770. if the 5830 would have only matched the 5750 while costing more and using more power then that would be the same scenario the op is presenting. a 6930 only matching a 6850 makes no sense whatsoever.

If, and that's a big if, there is a 6930, it would have to be above a 6870 or there is no point at all in releasing a card

yes, that's true. the 5830 was still in > 5770 and <5850. they could come out with a 6930 that was slower than 6870 but odds of that are slim imho, only reason would be if they had a LOT of dies that could only be harvested at very low sm number and clocks.
