Get an X2, they start 1mb L2 cache at 4400+, don't they?

O/C one of those and get AM2 speeds  IMO AM2 is just a daft attempt to screw people out of more money, for now. I'll bet with a high end 939 setup you can ride out the AM2 and upgrade when they cough out the socket after that.
You've misunderstood this socket change like so many others. It is not and it was never meant to be an upgrade for people that already have reasonably fast S939 systems. It is a more or less necessary platform change. What it will also bring, that S939 is unlikely to get, is new 65nm CPUs with the updated K8L core and possibly quad core CPUs.

^^ we should have more people like him around ^^

If people with a 3 ghz overclocked 939 systems did not yet realize that AM2 is not going to give them anything more then they already have, then they should just give up computing overall. Like he said, its a necessary transition to keep up with the memory market most of all. People are more likely to buy AM2 if you can pair 800 mhz ram with it. Tell the average joe, here is an intel conroe 2.4 ghz with 2GB of 800 mhz DDR2, or here is an AMD 4800+ 2.4 ghz with 2GB of 400 mhz DDR ram, and see which one he takes.
