I'm sure this has been covered before but after scanning 8 pages and using the search function I don't see another thread. anywho..

I'm starting to put together a system for moderate+ gaming, surfing, music, etc.. not building a hot-rod mind you but I'd like it to be robust and I don't wanna have to replace it in a year and a half. -- what's your preference in regards to X2s?

Clawhammer is not dual core, but avoid it. As far as the best core, didn't AMD just come out with their 45nm core? I'd give that a try.

Not the case with these cores actually from what I've heard. The Windsors can overclock pretty well sometimes, at least 2.7GHZ usually AFAIK.
edit: As far as overclocking goes. If he plans not to overclock, then I agree with u Crossrode, it would be good to get the 65nm as it does use less energy.

I would recommend going with the core with the least watts. I think that one Windsor has a TDP of 35watts, look around on newegg. It's the X2 3800+ AM2.
