I've previously and successfully over clocked an AMD 3200+ Venice core and haven't done anything close to over clocking since then. Now I recently purchased an AMD 64 X2 4200 Toledo as well as did some research on other aspects since my motherboard won't allow me to change/lower the cpu multiplier.

Now I was wondering can I get a higher stable over clock, or do you think I'm set and good to go? Or can you perhaps correct my over clock if I did something wrong?

My current specs:
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
CPU H/S Fan: Thermaltake Extreme Volcano 12 80mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
Memory: 3070MB PC3200 RAM Dual Channel 2T (4 Modules) (Ocz El Platinum Rev. *2-2-2-5* 22X512/GSKILL 2X1GB *2.5-3-3-6*)
Motherboard: Foxconn's WinFast NF4UK8AA-8EKRS
Hard Drive: 203 GB SATA 1.5
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT (Will overclock soon)
Operating System: Windows Vista? Ultimate (6.0, Build 6000)

Here is what CPU-Z shows (System is running stable Prime 95/Blend test ran 14hours straight without errors):

CPU Temp at load is 45C
System Temp at load is 34C
GPU Idle 47C

up your volts, but don't go over ____ if you don't want to burn it out, I hear a safe max is 1.5 but ......... This will probably also up your temp's

if you search various forums you'll see what others get, I think you'll see you're probably at average

You've go about the best overclock you're gonna get. I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (2x2.4GHz, 2x1MB L2 cache) and I can barely reach 2.7GHz. There's not alot of headroom with our CPUs. Maybe the 65nm AM2 ones'll be better.:)

i have a 4400+ @ 2700 and a 4200+ @ 2600 (due to the PS, very unstable) so check yours too.

My specs:

Processor: AMD X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ ~2.5GHz (OC)
CPU H/S Fan: Stock cooler (retail!)
Memory: 4GB PC26400 RAM Dual Channel 2T (4 Modules) (Corsair XMS2 *5-5-5-12* 4X1GB)
Motherboard: Abit AN9 32X
Hard Drive: 74GB SATA 10k rpm, 250GB SATA2
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS - I'll be getting a new GPU soon... Probably an 8800GTX
Operating System: Windows Vista? Ultimate 64bit (6.0, Build 6000)

I'll be getting myself an ultra-120 extreme, and then OCing it to 2.8-2.9ghz. I hear it's quite easy to do, and stable. That way I'll actually feel alright with waiting until Q1 2008 for the Phenom, then, too. (I've been getting antsy with a 2.2ghz CPU)

The over-clock-ability is really nice with the 4200+

Read that article, I felt more comfortable with overclocking this CPU after doing so.
