AMD 64 X2 4200+ HSF question.

So here's the deal I'm selling off my AMD 64 3500+ but I am keeping the stock AMD HSF combo that came with it. I'm upgrading to an AMD 64 X2 4200+ thats OEM so i need a HSF, is it possible to re-use the Stock HSF from my 3500+ or did they change the heatsinks that come with the X2's and faster models? I know for fact my 3500+ idles around 32C and at full load is around 36C.

Any help is appreciated, I'm just not looking to buy another HSF combo at this point.. gotta date this week and im flat broke as it is 😱

The 4200+ (89W) has the same heatsink (well, a little different...but not by much at all compared to my 3200+ heatsink) as the 3500+ heatsinks. There shouldn't be much of a problem just using that 3500+ sink but you might want to upgrade to something like a Freezer 64 Pro just in case you want to do a bit of overclocking (hey, it's ~20 USD; you can spare $20 right...?).

alright awesome thanks for the info reallymaster, I do plan to upgrade just not this week I haven't gotten my paycheck.. bi-weekly checks are rough when your a college student

Yeah, I would go with the AC Freezer 64 Pro for your X2. It will only set you back about $20, and it's a great product.
