Well, the Intel at 3.6 would probably be faster than an A64 3200+, maybe even at gaming. But you're not guaranteed that high of an overclock.

I would personally prefer the A64 system. If you can overclock that from 2.0/2.2 to 2.4-2.6 then I think it would be as fast or faster than the P4 @ 3.6.

Ok, that is kind of an odd comparison... Why would you get a different case/PSU, monitor, keyboard/mouse etc... just because you are changing CPU platforms? Makes more sense to me to compare the systems with everything identical, except cpu/mobo. If you do this and one comes out to be considerably more expensive, that should probably answer your question. If they come out roughly the same, I would recommend the Athlon 64 2800+ over the P4 2.8C for it's edge in gaming. That being said, both would make for a nice rig. I think you'd be happy either way.

Go for the AMD. that extra 6 bucks will give you 5-10% more performance in games. Definitely worth it, IMO. Drop that sound blaster, though. That is a total waste of money. Spend that elsewhere(faster CPU? 3000+?)

Go to newegg, the sonata is cheaper. Also, grab an MSI 9800 Pro, they are 9800XT's with half the ram and only 195$ plus they have a nice beefy stock cooler. I think for a primary gaming machine, AMD is the way to go too.

Because the AMD will be a BLACK pc and the INTEL will be a WHITE pc.

therefore all AMD parts (excluding the INTERNAL like mobo n such) will be BLACK. Antec sonata is the best looking black case.

and Intel must be all white and I find the performance 2 solution series case to be the coolest antec white. and so forth with all the hardware.

LordPhoenix you are one wierd cat. AMD/black - Intel/white LOL. Why dont you choose a color first and then the internals, it will more of an apples to apples comparison. As it is now I would tilt for the white BOX, sorry I mean Intel system because of the better ram which will allow better overclocking :)

Explain the different 9800PRO cards, will their color need to be different also between AMD, and Intel CPU.

Ok, but what does Corsair Value 512MB DDR PC3200 do for a black pc and Corsair XMS Extreme Memory 512MB DDR PC-3200 do for a beige pc? You also have 2 different video cards (at different prices) that are based on the same core. I'm not saying that any of your choices are bad, but just that it is difficult to get a good comparison in terms of price/performance when you do it this way. That being said, black rigs look better than beige IMO, and the A64 is a better performer. Go with the black A64 rig.

Well I'm not sure what 9800 Pro to get but I guess I'll get MSI 9800 Pro. Color on VGA doesn't matter and I know i had 2 different 9800 Pro's. Donno how I got that anyway. The Corsair PC3200 512 that's $123 comes with Heatspreaders. Or should I just get the Value Select? I'm planning on getting 2 (512) and Dual Channelling. Heatspreader Looks Good:)
