I'm planning on purchasing an AMD 64 3500 from ZipZoomFly.com and they have two version of it. The only way I was able to tell the difference is by the part number. One part number reads ADA3500AWBOX and the other ADA3500BIBOX. Is there a difference between the two besides price?

Thanks.

They're both socket 939 but one is newcastle and one is winchester. Winchester is the new 90nm chip.

more explicitly:
The one that reads AWBOX = Newcastle core = 130nm
The one that reads BIBOX = Winchester core = 90nm

The 90nm version uses less power and appears to have a very slight performance advantage for the same clock speed.

Is there a big difference between the two then?

Will both work with any type of 939 pin motherboards? Or do I have to look for another special motherboard, to take advantage of the Winchester?

Thanks for everyones help on this.

You don't need a special board for a 90nm proc, but make sure it is pre-flashed with a BIOS to support the new procesors--if not, system won't POST.
