Well since Newegg's site seems to be down I cant look at the links you provided...

As for the difference between SledgeHammer and ClawHammer, I THINK there isn't any execpt for how much L2 cache it has and that SledgeHammer was the first A64 core ment only for Athlon FX/Opteron (skt 939/940) wheres Clawhammer was the first A64 core for regular A64 (skt754)

Just guessing, the sledgehammer is probably 940 pin, and the clawhammer is probably 939pin.

Now that I can load the links, I think Newegg has really messed up there FX-55 listings. From the screenshots that I have seen of CPU-Z, the FX-55 does it fact use the Clawhammer core. So I'm guessing the Retail listing is wrong about it being a Sledgehammer. I also think there pricing is wrong. I think the retail FX-55 is supposed to be $999 and the OEM is $879. I would call to find out.

I should point out that you can find the FX-55 on pricewatch cheaper then either of the ones Newegg has.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with DragonFire; it makes no sense that the OEM would be more expensive than the retail version. I think it was just a mistake in listing.

I think it is because the retail has been out of stock. If/when they get a new shipment, they will probably bump the prices back up.
