AMD 64 and chaintech overclock

I'm a big newbie for this.
I have a AMD 64 3400+ , I want to overclock it but I dont know how.

this is my system :

amd 64 3400+
chaintech MB ZNF3-250
I beleive I'm using Nforce 3 250


speeze fan : spec for fan (I know I need a better one)

I build it myself since I work for Tigerdirect.com

How can I overclock my system to the max?
also when I go to the bios I can change the cpu freq and get the cpu up to 2.456 GHZ but then windows won't start up, the temperature on the cpu is always near the 45 deg, it is good or bad ?
