Why on earth would you buy that? Motherboards are double the price, chips are 2-3x the price for virually identical performance. You will pay $650 for mobo and chip vs. $250 for a 3000 AX OC way past 3500 and epox mobo or $300 for 3400+ and epox mobo. The logic escapes me.

It's obvious AMD does'nt want you to buy skt 939.

some people need to have the latest as soon as it comes out no matter how bad the price/performance curve is. Or they are willing to pay a lot of money so they can brag how some game looks better at 200 fps rather than 180 fps.

I am going socket 939 + 3500+ because it is only 170 dollars canadian more than a socket 754 + 3200+. For 170 I may as well get the added performance and newer socket.

I ordered from xtreamegear on the 16th when I first saw everyone started raising prices and most had it backordered. They are terribly slow in updating there order status and even worse on the availability listing. Found out today through email they are backordered until the 27th. Is still a very good price for retail version. Not sure I trust the 27th date and getting info from them is not easy.

I don't see the point of socket 939. Upgrade path? Everyone I know upgrades both board/cpu. Dual Channel DDR? Hardly noticeable performance difference.:)

Unless you upgrade your CPU very often, s939 doesn't offer a significant advantage in comparison to s754.

called zzf 8/20 and when asked if the chip was in stock i was told "yeah... they might be in stock. quantities are very limited right now, so you can order, but you might get an email notifying you that it's on back order."

If a company advertises that it's in stock for a long period of time and then allows you to order it as if it's in stock, I stay away. I called XtremeGear several times through the week & it was never in stock with no estimate and I asked them why they don't remove it and they said because it would be available soon. I went through the initial order without ordering and it didn't show that it was out of stock through the order process either. :disgust:

AMD moved to a new invitory system which messed things up and shipments were held up for 2 weeks. things should be getting back to normal soon. the chips sort of become "rare" for a moment and prices bumped up for lack of stock.

Have you gotten yours yet? I ordered mine on the 20th, expecting it to arrive tomorrow because it was 2 day shipping, but this is what UPS shows when I look up the tracking number.

UPS has received shipper's billing information electronically. Billing information received does not indicate shipment pickup or drop-off. Please contact the shipper for more details.

That is not a good sign. I left a message on zzf's customer service line, so I guess we'll see what they say tomorrow.

I order My 3500 on the 13th From ZZF and still havent gotten it yet. I also had the same notice with UPS

"UPS has received shipper's billing information electronically. Billing information received does not indicate shipment pickup or drop-off. Please contact the shipper for more details."

So I called up ZZF and I spoke to customer service they said they chip was on back order and it should be in by the 24th and it will get ship to me as soon as they get it...
They really shouldn't let you assume its in stock and let you go ahead you order something: thumbs down on ZZF for that part:
Hoping it comes soon :)

I checked the tracking number today (23rd) now says: Billing Information Voided

I order alot of products through ZZF and I was always pleased,This time I'm very disspointed

Thats What I get for ordering on Friday the 13th :)

Ditto for me, having ordered on the 16th. No answers. Wish they could simply get some information from AMD / their supplier(s) and pass it on rather than tell us nothing.

However, perhaps we will actually benefit from this suppy shortage in that AMD may adjust pricing again in response to Intel's move.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/display/20040823110801.html

"Intel Corp.?s arch-rival Advanced Micro Devices is expected to reduce pricing of its chips later this week, a month after the company has performed certain manipulations with its pricing."

Perhaps not...perhaps their price changes that already came out took Intel's potential move into account, but I certainly hope not! ;-)

Yup, just called ZZF and they said they expected some to come in Monday, but they didn't. They assumed they would arrive, which is why the site said they were in stock. How can you say something is in stock when they really aren't, just because you have a feeling they'll be there on time? False advertising if you ask me. But they did say they would be there 8/25 at least.

Mine from zzf is on it's way... Scheduled to deliver tomorrow (er I guess later today). :) w00t. I'll post how things go... I ordered the MSI Neo2 Platinum, 3500+, Zalman 7000 & I had OCZ PC4000...

Will have to see if the memory works out... if not I'll throw it on eBay but was a good deal I worked out with a friend. I already have some Crucial that should work fine if the OCZ doesn't and I'll look at Corsair for OC.

I'm glad to hear a ZZF customer is getting their procesor :) I ordered one on Sunday from them, and am on their waiting list, I guess... they said they had a shipment brought in a couple days ago, but it wasn't enough to fill all the orders. Meh, makes me wonder why they keep listing the processor as in stock...

My suggestion about ZZF is nail them on them on all the listed rating sites they promote. Make them take notice that the way they are handling backorders is terrible. I intend on posting on all of them. They obviously like promoting the sites, so give them some bad PR.

My biggest problems are:
1. They show it's in stock when it isn't.
2. They're misleading on the status page... It shows that it's "packed", no cancelation is possible AND I'm billed when really they don't even have the item.
3. They send a message saying it's out of stock maybe 3 days after the order and on both occasions, the motherboard & the CPU, the message it was on back order was the same day it shipped!!
4. They absolutely don't respond to e-mails. 4 e-mails on 2 products & I had to call each time. Tuesday when I called, the guy told me that it was ready to ship that night but when I called Wed. b/c no status change (and no e-mail response again), someone else told me they were still backordered and a "few" had come in. I was a bit hostle and she said she understood & was aware that a lot of people are complaining about the same thing. She was going to see what could be done and make sure that they were aware I was expecting it on my doorstep by Friday. That seemed to help but why tell me it was getting shipped on Tuesday when it wasn't available?

Anyway, I'm going to make those points after I get my stuff and verify that it works. I'll hit every site they list for feedback. I'm not going to be overly critical but I want is communication... it's fine if it's backordered, but let me know the next day and don't bill me & show that it's packed until then!!

G/L with your orders and make it known on the feedback sites. :)

I had ordered thousands of dollars from NewEgg until I had a bad motherboard...They told me that when it says "no refunds" there were no refunds... I told them that it didn't say that, which they replied with "well when it says that too"... LOL Then they took over a month to get me another one, so I moved on since the amount of $ I spent there was worth less to them than a bad motherboard. :brokenheart:

They finally shipped mine also. Agreed that their biggest problem is them showing it's in stock when it really wasn't. The voicemail and email I left them were never responded to, and there's no way to wait on hold to actually talk to someone if they don't pick up the first time. Instead it forces you to leave a message (which I don't recommend because it sounds like they don't answer them).
