I want to have a very good aircooling heatsink and the choices are broad so I'm having a little trouble finding the best one,

Good ones I found so far are,

Thermalright SLK948U
Coolermaster Hyper 6

but I am sure there are more, which one is tested to be the best aircooled heatsink on the market, could you give me some pointers which one I should take to get best cooling results.

Thnx,

Laymen

I don't know about benches and the like, but I have three thrmaltake Silen boost K8's and they are quiet (21dba) and at least on my Athlon64 3000 run cool. (full load 42c)

check the mobo compatibility list though.

fan choice depends on the noise vs. cooling balance you're after. Maybe Panaflo for quiet to mid range, tornado or Delta for uber cooling and horrible noise.

Hyper6: best cooler out there right now, even better when lowering fan speed. However, it's 2lb, evenly spaced out. That's a lot of torque. If that bothers you, get the SLK. The differences are there, but they are reasonably small.
Check SPCR and Frostytech's reviews.

AMDGuy: got a worthy review to show any proof?

Japanese design emphasize on usability, quality and performance, while american design focus on raw looks in the process sacrificing performance and usability.

common, the hyper6 won't even fit some cases properly.

At first I thought you might know what you were talking about, until you started making asinine generalizations.

How about, "Japanese emphasize on eating raw fish and degradation of women, while American emphasize on being fat and stupid."

Even according to those reviews, the Alpha doesn't quite perform as well...but still awful nice. Much like the PAL8045. Not as good as the top dogs, but you won't be worrying about your CPU overheating, nor looking like a rice-mobile :).

Tostada, if you like to bash a certain culture and flame people, then be my guest.

Anywaz cerb, the Alpha is only 1C off when using a higher speed fan, which makes it not far off from the top dog as shown in the review.

However if you look at the size and cost of the Hyper6 or the SLK, the alpha has a significant price to performance margin.

Yes, but no testing with slower fans, which is where the Alphas used to take the win (and which currently the coolermaster is evidenced to), and you didn't say it had better value, but that it actually performed better. Overall, it and the SLK are probably close to each other in torque.

Haven't stepped in this thread for a while but now you just confused me even more, one thing I do know the weight of the hyper 6 concerns me a bit. A friend of mine has exactly the same setup as me only he has an AMD 3200+ instead of my 3400+ he's using the hyper 6 and he has idle temps of 27°-32°C and when at full load he hits about 41-43°C. Thats mighty nice since you have alot of room to overclock(for aircooling that is), I would say I could bring my 3400+ to 2400Ghz, so a 200Mhz overclock would be straightforward would it not. Can this be accomplished with the Thermalright as well with same soundlevels as the hyper6?

If I were to get the Thermalright would I have to accept my better in the Hyper 6 my mate has?? And if i decide for Thermalright then what fan would you suggest I use. I want a fan with reasonably high CFMs but it may not be louder than 45db or something. It also has to be controlable so I can turn it down to like 20db's when I am not playing any games.

I am using the thermalright a vantec tornado (92mm) and a rheostat, tornado runs at 3500rpm (that is what i set it to) with my dtr 3200+ at 2.4ghz on full prime95 load for 12hours it gets to 44c. Though i have an 80mm tornado (set ot 3700rpm) in the sidepanel and 5 other case fans, plus 2 fans on the power supply. Still not too loud and good cooling. The coolermaster hyper6 or thermaltake silenttower both may cool slightly better (especialy with 2 fans installed) but if you move your case around a lot, i would not recomedn them as they put extreme stress on the board.

I run a AMD64 3400+ with a thermaltake Venus 12 HSF. It cools great but can be abit loud if turned all the way up. On a good note, it came with both a front fan control dial and a rear control plate if you don't already have some kind of fan speed controller. I keep it set at the minimum setting, and my load temps hover around 45C, but when I crank it up to full speed they drop down to around 39C or so at load. Idle temp range is great also, at around low 30's.

Sounds very nice indeed, and I don't haul my case to lanparties or such, I occasionaly move it 20-40cm to the left to open my case but thats about the distance it will travel. Ok I know enough thnx for pitching in fella's,

greetz,

Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu / -AlCu :).
Looks the best, cooling is up there with the Thermalrights, and silent to quiet (depending on fan speed).

I don't know why no-one mentioned the Zalman CNPS7000Cu. It's the best air-cooling in the low-noise range heatsinks.
