I'd just like to state yes i did use the search function and i don't mean to double post if there was any other thread listing the information im in need to know.

Ok now for the question. I'm looking for the best AIR cooler, water is not an option with me. I do not care if the thing sounds like a leaf blower either as i'm playing next to a furnace which drowns out any sound my computer could make.

I've heard alot about the xp 120/90, and im just wondering how some of the other fans even the extremely loud ones hold up to it like the thermaltake venus12. I've heard alot about that being and extremely good cooler but very loud at 5500rpm. Is this better than xp-120?

I hate to post another one of these but i feel the others may have left out the thermaltake venus12 due to the fact its very loud.

End question - Whats the VERY best AIR cooler? Once again sound doesn't matter, i just want major cooling preformance.

Thanks - DoC

The Zalman 7700 is the best I think, my XP-120 was 80 bucks, and the zalman is half that with the same heat dissapation.

I think the XP-120 with a really fast 120mm fan would be your best cooling solution. Followed by XP-90 with a fast 92mm fan. The Venus 12+ is pretty good at full speed, but it is VERY loud...and with it being only 80mm (although it's a 38mm wide one) fan, it simply can not compete with a nice 92, or 120mm fan, especially given the fin/surface area of the thermalrights.

The XP-120 is about the best forced air solution out now. Slap a 92x92x38 Delta on it and you'll be okay, though VERY noisy.

Get a ThermalRIGHT cooler instead of thermaltake... Yes, it will cost you a bit more (most likely), but they are high quality products. Go and hunt down some of the tons of reviews on the Thermalright XP90/120 coolers and you're get an idea as to how well they perform. Plus, with the XP-120 you can put a low noise, high CFM fan onto it and get the best of both cool and quiet on your system...

 Thermalright
? Zalman
 Thermaltake

The Zalman 7700 series is really huge. I saw one at Microcenter, and man that thing is friggen heavy. The CU version that is. By Really huge, i mean, its at least the size of the base plate of your power supply.

I have not seen a 7700 vs: XP-120, but i would go with the XP120 or XP90 if it cant fit.

If you choose the xp120, you need to make sure it will fit on your mobo. I know it won't fit on my k8n neo2 platinum, so I'm going with the xp90. Although I hear that the xp90 kinda blocks the ram dimm closest to the cpu.
