AMD 64 3000+ Temps? High?

Last weekend I built a new PC and I have a Antec case, Antec True 430Watt PS, Radeon 9800 Pro 128 Graphics Card, ASUS K8VSE Deluxe Mobo, AMD 64 3000+ CPU.

My temp at idle is between 35C - 37C and when I put it under a load like UT 2004 with everything Maxed its between 47C - 50C after 1hr of playing.

I also have 2 Fans blowing in from the front. 1 blowing in from the side on the graphics card, 2 exiting the rear (1 behind the graphics card 1 behind CPU), 1 exit on the Power Supply. I am running stock Heat Sink and Fan with some good Metal Flake thermal grease.

Is these temps to high?
What is a good temp range for this?

If it's stable, those temps are fine. A64 is probably good up to 70 or 80c like most procs. If you wanna oc, you might wanna get better cooling, you're using the stock cooler right?

Yeah I am using the Stock Heat Sink and Fan. The only thing different on it is that I didnt use there thermal grease I swapped it out for some metal flake thermal grease. I am trying to learn how to OC but havent tried it yet. This is the first semi good PC I ever had and never really had anything before to OC. Is there anywhere that is a good place to learn to OC the processor or ATI Radeon 9800 graphics cards at?

1: Ocing on a A64 is a bit sketchy atm unless you have a NF3 250 board. No agp/pci lock on other mobo's makes it so you oc your video/pci bus with the cpu which limits considerably your ability to oc.

2: Ocing the 9800 is cake. Google radlinker, atitool, or powerstrip, install, and use the oc tab. Increase clocks a bit at a time, 5 - 10 mhz.

With your specs you may be a bit limited in overclocking due to your PC3200 memory, not to mention the lack of an AGP/PCI lock. What metal flake thermal grease did you use? I wouldn't overclock your setup, it will be plenty fast how it is, overclock the video card if you'd like, which is pretty easy with something like Radclocker or ATi Tool.

Unless you bought the cheap Mushkin, you should be able to get up to at least 215fsb or so. That would give you a decent overclock, assuming your psu can handle the extra current it will have to supply.

who says you need a pci lock?

i run a fsb of 289 with no pci lock and have no problems at all!!!

though the pci/agp lock is nice on the 250, overclocking should be no problem on that board as long as it has an agp lock...

radeons don't like to run out of spec too much... but geforce's can handle mass out of sync-ness

i'm running 2.6 on my shuttle.
