AMD 64 200mhz difference = $200.00 more?

Is this a big deal. On tigerdirect.com they have a AMD 64 chip that is 2.0ghz for $279.00. They have a 2.2gig for $449.00 I think. Is this a big difference??? Or is a waist of money?

Probably a waste of money but not really if you have the cash to burn and need the latest and greatest. I also suggest you stop looking at tiger direct as they are teh sucks. Try here instead

newegg.com, Athlon64 3000+ $219. forget tigerdirect. and IMO, forget the 3400+ which is what that $449 chip is.

Tiger Direct has earned a bad reputation. Why not shop somewhere that's earned a good one 🙂

As for the 200MHz difference costing $200 more... you have keen powers of observation 😎 It is a 10% difference and you get to decide if 10% more MHz is worth the $200 to you. AnandTech.com just did a review of the 3400+ that you might want to read to help decide.

Slow rebates, bad customer service, etc. I know someone that still insists on shopping there though, it's kinda sickening when Newegg is so good and they completely ignore it.

Not just that... there was the infamous Phone Card scam too (they made unauthorized, unwanted charges to peoples' credit cards). I seem to recall Tiger Direct buying a stickie-ad-thread in Hot Deals and just being shouted down by the whole forum. As I understand it, they were... uh... invited to get lost. 😛
