Yes I do, but not as likley as the gtx 580 beating the 6970.

I willing to bet my account vs yours that it will be 2 gtx570's or some variant of the gf110 core not the gtx 560's for the Nvidia dual card. There will be plenty of them also.
Loser does not post ever again.

Hint,the gtx 295.....and power figures.

The GTX570 uses more power than the GTX275.
The GTX295 used two cut down and harvested GTX275 family GPU cores.
Therefore the GTX595 would likely use two even more cut down/downclocked GTX570 family GPU cores.

The HD6970 also appears to have better scaling with Crossfire than the GTX570 has with SLI.
Stick a 300w card limit into play, you have a race to see who can put the most efficient GPU (AMD) and get the best scaling (AMD) on one dual GPU card.

I'm not saying it's completely impossible for NV to make a faster GTX595 than the HD6990, but I don't see it happening at under 300w for both cards, assuming AMD reach for the 300w PCIe power limit.

skymtl from hardware Canucks said he guarantees there will be a dual gtx card to compete with the 6990 and that it will be out by the end of q1 2011. he then said go ahead and quote me on this that he guarantees nvidia will hold both single and dual gpu performance crowns by end of q1 2011

he posted it in the comments of his 6900 review thread.

I believe all of these matchups will go NV's way due to the way they were selected. Most of these matchups are at different price ranges. Take 6870 vs GTX560 for examps. The GTX560 is 25% more expensive than a 6870 ($250 vs $200).

Because its new. Price will settle down in a few weeks as Nv's partners begin to compete against each other.

So? happy_medium guessed right that the more expensive card would beat the cheaper card, so he's awesome and had to bump his own thread.

read the OP, it was all about performance , prices were not known yet for most of these cards. Thats the difference.

at the time there was no prices for the nvidia series or 6900 series, so it was about who will win.
Remember all the people saying the 6970 would beat a gtx580?

The only cards released at this point were the 6800 series.

And yes the gtx595 will be dam close to the 6990, like I said earlier in this thread. These were the only cards I was unsure of because of downclocking and the 300 watt limit.

I take it you havent read Ryan review, AMD changed the 560 challenger to the 6950 once they got the 560 data and then dropped the price of the 6870

Bump because I know how much happy medium loves being right.

GTX550Ti gets soundly thrashed by the HD6850.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4221/n...p-short-at-150

550 also gets thrashed by the GTX 460, when for many months he was claiming the 550 would definitely be faster than a 560. Even the SE is a better card, especially if you consider the low core clocks and higher memory bandwidth it has making it a better option for overclocking at the $150 segment.

This thread is about happy medium's predictions of future cards (as they were at the time it was created).

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2154524
This thread is not about happy medium's predictions, it is about the GTX 560.

And I predicted a gtx560 and a cut down gtx560, see the relation?. And I predicted it would be faster then the 6870 and the cut down version will be faster the the 6850.

And fought with all the fanboys in this thread which said PERFORMANCE WISE.....
The 6970 will demolish a gtx580...............wrong
The 6950 will crush a gtx570............wrong
There is no such card as a gtx560 so the 6870 wins............wrong.
There will not be a cut down gtx560 vs the 6850................wrong.
There is no way a gtx590 will use 2 gf110 chips.............wrong.

I was wrong about the gtx550 name, The cut down gtx560 ti will be called the gtx560 se or just plain gtx560 with no TI it seems.

Amazing isn't it! Read the thread!

Most of these cards don't even compete with each other.

Sorry happy, but just because you say they compete, doesn't mean they actually do.

GTX 580 is in a class of it's own but that's just my opinion.

It all depends on the game. But the 580 is quicker most of the time.

But back in the beginnig of December there was no prices, so yes they were supposed to compete but AMD came up short so they lowered the prices. Shame ha?

Actually, AMD said well before the release of the 6970 that it wasn't going to compete with the 590, nor was it going to be the same price.

Not only that, But a GTX590 wont beat a 6990 either. :)

By the way, a little off topic here, but does Age Of Empires 3 support Eyefinity ?
