Thanks OP.

Sorry to revive an old thread and but is the motherboard matx or itx? And is the rebate MIR? I'm thinking about driving out to my nearest fry's and I could use a little more detail. Thanks.

How do you folks like the AM1 platform? I guess for client builds it's not too bad. I built a few Sempron 3850 AM1 quad-core (1.3Ghz) builds, and they seem... sluggish. Probably because the ST speed is poor due to the low clock-speed.

I have a Lenovo Beema 1.8Ghz A6-6310 laptop with Win7 Pro on it, and it seems ... faster. Both machines have SSDs. Granted, not only is the clock speed higher (1.8 versus 1.3), it's also Beema (newer) versus Kabini.

Also, I was only populating one of the RAM slots with a 4GB GSkill DDR3 stick, but I'm pretty-sure that AM1 platform only has single-channel RAM anyways.

I think the low power quad is what got me to buy. Heres a link to the CPU score (2566).....

I have never had issues with it as a HTPC. I used photoshop and it moves right along. I checked newegg reviews before I bought and felt comfortable buying.

I am sure frys will have it again in the next couple months. Be sure to give Frys an email address so they send promo code deals. I got a washer/dryer deal on black Friday and saved around $500.
