abit AX78 is good & cheap.
pretty much guaranteed 3.1-3.2GHz on a 5000+BE with decent supporting components.
Only drawback is that the AMD SB600 isn't stunning.

For the price of the Abit AX78 you can get this Biostar 790GX which features the SB750 and a better layout (140w Phenoms supported) and Bios.

SB750 is an advantage, agreed but I would expect an AX78 to be cheaper (should be ~$75).
layout isn't really that different but the AX78 does have some nice touches (external clearCMOS switch, LED POST reporter) - all down to OP's needs & preferences as to which is better I guess.
AX78 supports 140W (Phenom 9950) CPUs as well.

Get an amd 790fx board if you can. I went from a 570sli which restricted overclocking abilities. That board wouldn't let me get higher than 2.8GHz because the northbridge was so god damn hot. The board after a year and a half died on me because of it too.

I bought a 790fx with a sb600 and it will get the processor upto 3.2GHz (lots of cooling) and probably would even higher but it isn't stable because of heat.
