AMD 4000+ @ 60 C?

Hey everyone ... i just built a computer with an AMD 4000+ , the BIOS says it's running about 60 C, and in windows with the motherboards utility, it's going about 150 F ... I did put arctic silver on it ... maybe i shouldn't use the stock heatsink/fan? HELP PLZ =/

Alright, will do .... in the meantime, my BIOS says

"Internal CPU TEMP : 60 C (went up to 70 after up for awhile)"
and
"System Temp : 20 C"

I can understand since it's a high end chip it can produce a LOT of heat ... but which temperature should i watch? Internal or System temp? Thanks =)

You should pay attention to the CPU temp, which at 60 C under no load is very high. My A64 runs 38 C under no load with the default heatsink. As PezRadar says, check to make sure the heatsink is put on correctly and is snug. How much Artic silver did you apply? You only need a very small amount, less than pea size.
Are you running it at default voltage?

My 3500 is running 45 under load.

jv3x3, motherboards come with a software program you can use to check your temps within windows. If you don't have that, then there is usually a page in the BIOS showing temps.

KB,

Yes, i checked the heatsink and it fits snug and is on correctly. I put on about the size of 1 rice of arctic silver on it, default voltage, i didn't touch any of that in the BIOS. Should i re-apply the acrtic silver? I put on the heatsink wrong the first time and had to switch it, between all this very little acrtic silver got smudged, but no gaps or anything. I'll re-check again the heatsink, any other ideas that might come up is appreciated, thanks!
