I'd like to know myself. I have a 3400 NewCastle stable at 2.6 and Im wondering if the 3700 has any headroom above 2.6....

which 3700+? the newark or newcastle?

the newark does pretty well on air... there have been reports of 3.0 ghz on air

Since it's a 130nm core, I would say 2.5-2.6 on air. But don't quote me on it, that's an extremely rough estimate.

Well it's up and running stock for now. This chip runs pretty hot...but then again it is 2.4 ghz on 130 nm. I'm still using my old Zalman 7000 ALCU, so I'm thinking heat might become a problem if I can get any type of decent clocks. I'll push it in a few and see how far I can go. :)

Update: I knew this would happen but heat has become a serious issue w/ my dinky Zalman.

My 3200+ at 2.3 idled at 44C and under full load would hit around 52-54C or so...which was perfectly manageable to me. The 3700+ primed for an hour without failing at 2600 mhz w/ stock vcore...which I was very happy about. I know, I know...it's only an hour but it shows potential. :) However, temps hit 63C under full load. This mother is HOT. I guess I'm going to finally splurge on a new HSF...any recommendations in the $30-40 range?

Other than the heat issue...the potential for this is looking very good. Maybe with a better HSF and some more vcore I can get 2.7-2.8. Of course my luck when it comes to overclocking usually sucks...so I'm not going to get too excited yet.

I JUST ordered a Big Typhoon...I might have ordered the XP-90 but SVC didn't have it in stock. I hope it helps. :)

Depends on what fits your motherboard. You can get the Zalman 7700AlCu in that price range. Thermaltake has their new Golden Orb II and Blue Orb coolers that are between the 7000 and 7700 Zalmans in size and are a semi-similar design. The Thermalright XP-90 and XP-90C would both be good choices (the copper version is a bit expensive and you'll need to buy a fan separately). The Scythe Katana fits in that range, if you want to try out the tower heatpipe style.

You'll have to crank that fan up to maximum, as it pushes little to no air.

I've heard a lot of people getting good results by switching out the fan. Can anybody recommend this that has done it?
