I dont no too much about processors anymore, I havent been keeping up to date with it. Was just wondering from a gaming aspect, which is gonna deliver better speeds? I realize that the AMD's have much higher bus frequencies, but lower actual clock speeds. While Intel has greater clock speeds but significantly slower busses. How does this affect the performance and whats the difference with the intel chips when they have the J after there name? thanks guys.

For gaming speed, cool operation, and quiet, AMD 3500 is much better for your purpose.

i would wait for the 6xx reviews if you're majorly into editing, encoding, etc... probably not going to be major changes, but it is 64 bit

so what do you think the performance would be like on the 6xx (650 on sale i think at the mo), would it be just like a normal p4 3.x with 64 bit extensions

quote "The J indicates Execute Disable bit support, not 64bits. "

thought i might be wrong thanks for the update :)

The intel 650 still doesn't touch the 3500+ in terms of gaming. Doom 3, The intel 650 trails the 3500+ in 91.3 FPS compared to a 107.3 FPS in demo1 test. The setup:

Intel:
ASUS P5AD2
1GB (2x512) corsair DDR2 675MHz @ 533MHz
Western Digital 120GB 8MB Cache
PCIexp 6800 Ultra
650 3.4GHz w/EM64T

AMD:
DFI nFORCE-UltraD (Sli Hack Enabled)
OCZ 1GB (2x512) PC3200 EL Rev2 2-2-2-5
AMD Athlon64 3500+ @ 2.2GHz 90nm (winchestor) @ stock
2x eVGA 6800Ultra @ stock (SLI disabled)
Western Digital 120GB 8MB Cache

3DMark 2005, P4 wins. 3DMark 2003, P4 wins. 3DMark 2001, AMD Wins. Doom 3, AMD Wins. Bapco Sysmark 2004, P4 Wins.
