I just put this new system together last week and was going to try for a 2.4 OC. For some reason I can't seem to OC this thing at all. PERIOD!!!!

I had a P4 2.8 Prescott before this with an ABIT I-C7G MAX II and had that OC'd to 3.2 no problem. I guess I really don't know how to OC an AMD Processor. Can anyone help me with how to go about this with my system specs?

Thanks

Your problably having problems with your ram and HTT. Drop down the muliplier for both of those, and make sure you lock your PCI, AGP and PCI-e bus.

My 3500+ Venice is oc to these settings:

10x multiplier

HT 3x

FSB 260

Ram 150mhz(shows 195mhz at post)

vcore 1.5+

2.6ghz stable so far.

I followed the guide which is great by the way and my HTT is the issue. I moved my SATA from 1 2 and 3 4. I also set my CPU x to 6 and my memory at 266. I could not get my FSB above 215 and any higher it would crash. I don't have AGP and my PCIe is locked at 100. I guess I have a bad MB for OC'ing. Any other ideas?

What is your HT multiplier? This should be set to x4 (up to ~"FSB" 250) or x3 (above ~"FSB" 250) for overclocking. My guess is that you're set to x5 right now, which is trying to run the Hypertransport bus faster than it is stable. No reason to push the Hypertransport bus too far, it has a very small impact on overall performance.

In other words did you follow the advice of this line in the guide:

VERY IMPORTANT to keep in mind at all times is hypertransport needs to be around 1000, meaning LDT x HTT (aka FSB) ~1000 or less.

OK...I set my HT multiplier at 3x and 4x my CPU at 6x and my memory at 266. The best I can get is 215 FSB any higher it will crash. So that means my HT is 860. If my HT is higher than 860 it will crash which makes no sense to me since at stock it's 1000 200x5. I see in reviews for this MB that people are getting 340 FSB with HT x3 and I'm not able to get above 215 before a crash????
