AMD 3500 OC Problem with Prime95

Hi guys,

I've overclocked my Amd 3500 to the following:
(got this settings from this forum)

On the CPU/Dram config page:
HT multi = 3x
Max mem clock = DDR333
Cool n' Quite = disabled

On the Jumperfree page
HTT = 265
Cpu multi = 10
Cpu volts = 1.55v
DDR volts = 2.8v
PCI clock = 33.33

When I run prime95, it starts stressing the system. My problem is that after a while my PC goes into stand by and I cannot get it to normal mode and see the progress. The keyboard and mouse freeze after starting prime95.

Keyboard and mouse do not freeze at 260x10 (other settins stay the same)

Any way around this? or any other settings I should try?

first, you shouldnt let your computer go on standby, and see what is happening. i am assuming its failing prime95, so you should reduce your overclock.

I also think prime95 it's failing. However, even before it goes into stand by, prime95 seems to be working fine except the keyboard & mouse are frozen.

I'll try other settings or lower my speed.

Any more suggestions?

Thanks theman.

I think you're right asicman. Looking at the manual (I'm at work) there is an option in the BIOS:

ACPI Suspend Type [S1&S3] (this is the default)

The other two choices: [S1 (POS)] & [S3 (STR)]

I'll try them later when I get home.

Thanks.

Yes, S1&S3 will cause the problem you're seeing. There's actually a way to get out of the suspend mode, but I forget what it is. I think it might be the power button, actually. But changing this setting to S3 should prevent it.
