AMD 3000+ 64 Retail Heatsink vs XP-90

To go with my upcoming EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra board, which is better 'bang for buck' for mild overclocking (~2.2)...

1. The Retail AMD 3000+ Venice w/Stock Heatsink ($146 shipped) or
2. OEM 3000+ ($137)and XP-90 with a Panaflo($45) for total of $182?

Would I get that much higher/faster (~2.6)by getting the OEM / XP-90 for the extra $36?

This is the only part I cant decide on. Thanks!

Retail HSF is fine.

No need to go with a more expensive HSF unless you are OCing alot more, or want a quieter one.

And the XP90 is $25, and a fan $10 at SVC. $35 total, not $45. And I don;t how much more OC, but you will get more OC with less heat, that is fact.

i doubt it'll get you much more of an overclock, it'll drop the temp and reduce the noise with a nice fan

there's also shipping to add in there, which could easily bring it up to $45.

The retail heatsink will work fine for most OC's, especially a mild one like 2.2.

I had it on my A64 3000 @ 2.4 until summer hit and my temps started reaching high 50's to 60. I then switched to an XP-90 which dropped my temps significantly, but when I tweaked my OC I only got another 50mhz out of the chip. I'd say just use the retail.

i'm thinking of upgrading to the xp-90 too. however, I only want it to be a hell of a lot quieter and it'll drop my temps by a couple Cs. otherwise, stock works fine for me, even in the most entensive games... just loud IMO

QFT, I got mine there. 10$ for the panaflo. or 29$ for a XP90 with whatever fan its bundled with. If you go with the 25$ XP90+10$ Panaflo dont forget to order the 75cent wirelead as the panaflo comes with bare leads (real ez to put together though.

but if you do decide to order just grab some clearance stuff (1.99$ case fans) to comensate for the shipping cost.
